Mathematics

Welcome to the Math Department!

To assure things go smoothly there are certain steps to follow:

  1. Open a Net ID account. Go to activate NetID.
All important University and course information will be sent to your TAMU Email.
  2. Register for your course/s. To do this you need to access 'Howdy'. Our online courses will have a "700" section number-- ex: Math 645 section 700. The Attibute will say "College Station NonTraditional Format Approved" and the Term Type will say "STANDARD Web Based". Do not register for courses with a 699 section number. 699 sections are only for on campus students taking an online class. Graduate students who are enrolled in a fully online program must enroll in courses that have a 700 section number.
    • Once you login, please go to "My Record" tab to find registration. Every semester online students must complete the "Distance Location Update" before registering. Otherwise, you will get an error.
    • Be sure to enroll in plenty of time, sections fill up fast. Check "Registration History" to verify that you have registered.
    • Tuition and fees information will be under the "My Finances" tab. Student Business Services will notify you when these are due.
    • NOTE: NOT paying tuition and fees is not the way to drop courses. If you want to drop all your courses without having to pay your tuition and fees, this must be done before the semester begins. If you wait until after the semester begins to drop to zero hours, there will still be some financial charges on your side and refunds will be prorated.
  3. Review university resources for distance education programs. The Graduate and Professional Studies Office has a page listing resources that are available to online students including a virtual university orientation.

Please email math-masters@tamu.edu if needed with specific questions.
