Topics in Algebra/Topology: Topological Quantum Computation This course will introduce the topological (Freedman-Kitaev) model for quantum computation, emphasizing the mathematical aspects through braid group representations and link invariants. The lectures will mostly follow the recent lecture notes https://arxiv.org/abs/1604.06429 and https://arxiv.org/abs/1601.05288 (both now published). The prerequisites are linear algebra and group theory, the other (topological) topics will be introduced. This course will be independent from the course offered in Fall 2017 (by Landsberg) on the quantum circuit model.
