How to Apply for All Scholarships Listed Below

The University Scholarship Website lists scholarships offered through the College of Science, with criteria, preferences, deadlines.

The Math Department uses this application to award our Endowed scholarships listed below, so we encourage everyone to apply online for both College level and department level scholarships. All continuing students are eligible to apply. The Application portal is available online from October 15 - February 1 each year. The online application can be found at: University Scholarship Application.


The Elizabeth Wade Lepley Endowed Scholarship in the College of Science

Preferences: This scholarship is awarded to a full-time student in good standing who is a US Citizen. Preference is given to a freshman student with financial need. The scholarship is renewable for one additional year with a minimum GPA of 3.0. The scholarship is $1,250.00 and is paid in equal increments in the fall and spring semesters.


Mary and Robert N. Walker Endowed Scholarship

Preferences: This scholarship is awarded to a freshman mathematics major and is renewable for three (3) additional years if recipient remains a mathematics major and in good standing. The scholarship is $1,000.00 and is paid in equal increments in the fall and spring semesters.


Koss/Klipple Endowed Scholarship

Preferences: This scholarship is awarded to one or more full-time students in good standing. Freshman students should have graduated in the top 25% of their HS class and sophomore students and above should have a minimum gpa of 3.2. Preference is given to students with academic achievement and financial need.

Koss/McGee/Hillman Endowed Scholarship

Preferences: This scholarship is awarded to one or more full-time students in good standing. Freshman students should have graduated in the top 25% of their HS class and sophomore students and above should have a minimum gpa of 3.2. Preference is given to students with academic achievement and financial need.

Size and Number of Award(s): One or more awards with an open amount.


Dr. Walter E. Koss Endowed Scholarship

Preferences: This scholarship is awarded to one or more full-time students in good standing. Freshman students should have graduated in the top 25% of their HS class and sophomore students and above should have a minimum gpa of 3.2. Preference is given to students with academic achievement and financial need.

Size and Number of Award(s): One or more awards with an open amount.


Margaret Mount Moore Endowed Scholarship

Preferences: This scholarship is awarded to one Junior/Senior full-time student in good standing. Recipient must have a minimum of 2.5 gpa. Preference is given to students from Deer Park HS and Harris county high schools with academic achievement, financial need, and extracurricular activities.

Size and Number of Award(s): $1,000 awarded to one (1)recipient


G. Alan Cannon '88 Endowed Scholarship

Preferences: This scholarship is awarded to one or more full-time students in good standing who have demonstrated leadership throughout HS and/or college activities. Freshman students should have graduated in the top 25% of their HS class, scored a 1000 on the SAT or 22 on the ACT and sophomore students and above should have a minimum gpa of 3.0. Preference is given to BS Math, BA in Math (certification), or a BS APMS-Math option. This scholarship is renewable for up to 4 years with a minimum 3.0 gpa with all other criteria met.

Jack W.'71 & Nancy L.'73 Matz Endowed Scholarship

Preferences: This scholarship is awarded to one or more full-time students in good standing who are US Citizens. The scholarship is renewable for up to 3 additional years with a minimum 3.0 gpa.

Size and Number of Award(s): One or more awards with an open amount.


Bruce Treybig Endowed Scholarship

Preferences: This scholarship is awarded to one or more full-time students in good standing who are pursuing a Math degree.

Size and Number of Award(s): One or more awards with an open amount.


Sheila and Robert Templeton Endowed Scholarship

Preferences: This scholarship is awarded to one or more full-time students in good standing who are pursuing a Math degree.

Charlotte and John McMath '66 Endowed Scholarship

Preferences: This scholarship is awarded to one or more full-time students in good standing who are pursuing a Math degree.

Size and Number of Award(s): $1,000 awarded to one (1)recipient


Actuarial Scholarships

The Math Department also offers several special Actuarial scholarships to our undergraduate majors. At the present time, Aon and the Southwest Actuarial Forum fund scholarships for outstanding academic achievement in the Actuarial track.


Scholarship Programs for Education Majors

The TAMU Education Scholarship Programs Page is a site for future Math teachers looking for scholarships and scholar loan programs. A scholar loan program starts out as a loan, but each year you teach at a "needy" school district (for math, that means almost anywhere in Texas), a portion of the loan is forgiven.


Texas Space Grant Consortium Undergraduate Scholarship Program

TSGC is pleased to offer $1,000 scholarships to high-quality juniors and seniors who demonstrate above-average performance in academics, participate in Space Related research projects, and exhibit leadership qualities. Deadline to apply to Walter Haisler, our campus representative, is typically the first week in April. For more information about the Program, visit their website at Tx Space Grant Consortium.


US Department of Energy (DOE) Environmental Management Scholarship Program for Hispanics

The objective of the DOE/Hispanic Scholarship Fund Institute program is to award scholarships to Hispanic students majoring or pursuing a career supportive of DOE's goal of environmental restoration and waste management. The scholarships are $3,000 per year and are awarded in the Fall (November) for the following academic year. Program Eligibility:

  • Must be of Hispanic background
  • Must be a US citizen/permanent resident
  • Must have earned at least 12 undergraduate college credits, with at least a 2.7 GPA
  • Must be a full time student
  • Must plan to pursue a career supportive of DOE's goals as stated above

Guidant Corporation Fellowships and Assistantships

Provide support for graduate study in software engineering at Embry-Riddle University; part of a student-centered research program within the Guidant research lab on campus. The awards provide: full tuition, generous stipend, book allowance, laptop computer, and a summer internship. Information on the Masters of Software Engineering program can be found at the MSE Program site.


The TAMU Financial Aid & Scholarship Page is an excellent source for information on the scholarships that are available through the Student Financial Aid Office located in the Pavilion.

The Honors Program Office also offers competitive scholarships. Other forms of financial aid and work study programs are available from the Office of Student Financial Aid, located on the second floor of the Pavilion.
